Fede Álvarez’s Alien: Romulus is a gripping, suspenseful thriller, despite having a very standard plot. The world-building and timeline are confused and muddled, and the movie lacks originality. The personalities don’t make an impression and come across as superficial. Nevertheless, the sound design, CGI, and graphics are excellent and successfully heighten the suspense in the exciting scenes. The camera work and lighting in the movie bring back memories of the first Alien. With the Facehuggers and Xenomorphs giving the viewers enough goosebumps to keep them interested, the last forty-five minutes are jam-packed with excitement and action.
